Taipara’s conceptual idea behind this light installation was to celebrate New Zealand’s cultural diversity throughout the symbolic form of Auckland’s volcanic cones that make our country so unique and intriguing.

Our task was to design and construct light installation with sustainable approach of zero waste, as well as zero budget being one of the key drivers for this project. As five ladies and one guy on the team, building six meters high structure became quite a challenge for us.

We believe that quick decision making, strong collaboration skills, and commitment to work were the key factors in making it all happen.

Finalizing lighting the day before the Glow

As the structural works of installation progressed, it became time to implement the light elements into our design. LED lights were chosen for this project as it is more energy efficient, flexible, and easy to work with.
